Tips For Your Wedding
Loose Park is one of Kansas City’s most iconic engagement session spots. Located just minutes from the Country Club Plaza, this historic park offers 75 acres of natural beauty, blooming gardens, and plenty of tucked-away areas that feel like your own private escape. Whether you’re drawn to the romantic rose garden, the quiet trails, or the open fields at sunset, Loose Park offers endless variety for your session.
As a wedding and engagement photographer here in Kansas City, Loose Park is one of my go-to recommendations. It blends classic elegance with laid-back charm, giving you a gallery that feels timeless but also uniquely “you.
The Rose Garden is easily the most famous feature of Loose Park, and for good reason. With more than 3,000 roses and stone pathways winding through the space, it feels like stepping into a romantic European garden.
Just beyond the rose garden, Loose Park has a large pond with charming curved bridges. This area is perfect for creating more intimate, storybook-style images.
If you’re dreaming of whimsical, golden-hour photos, the open fields are your spot. In the evenings, the tall grass catches the light beautifully, creating soft, romantic portraits.
The tree-lined pathways around the park are another hidden gem. They provide shade on sunny days and a sense of privacy when you want more candid, playful shots.
One of the best things about Loose Park is that it looks different in every season:
No matter the time of year, there’s always something beautiful to capture.
Parking: Free parking lots are available on the west side of the park, and street parking is usually easy to find. Arrive early on weekends, it’s a popular spot.
Crowds: Loose Park can get busy, especially in spring and early summer. I recommend scheduling weekday evenings or early mornings for a more private experience.
Walking: The park is spread out, so wear comfortable shoes for moving between locations (you can always swap into heels for portraits).
Your outfits help set the tone for your engagement photos. Here are some tried-and-true combinations that photograph beautifully in the park:
Loose Park is more than just a pretty location — it tells a story. The mix of gardens, water, and open space creates a gallery full of variety without ever leaving the park. Couples often say they feel more relaxed here, surrounded by nature, which leads to authentic, joyful photos.
If you’re dreaming of engagement photos that feel romantic, timeless, and uniquely Kansas City, Loose Park is the perfect setting. Whether we’re capturing the magic of the rose garden in full bloom or chasing the sunset across the open fields, your gallery will be filled with moments you’ll treasure forever.
